Where Oh Where Should I Go!

We've put together some tips and tricks to make your creative experience the best it can be. We've taught literally thousands of kids and developed a formula for success. In this lecture we'll start with the basics of setting up your workspace and then move onto being organised. Being organised is key for successful creative projects. The more time spent creating and the less time spent looking for things leads to a calmer, more productive environment.

Bring Out The Materials

Being organised is key for successful creative projects.  The more time spent creating and the less time spent looking for things leads to a calmer, more productive environment.  Watch the video for tips on organising materials.

Virtues

When we set up our creativity school virtues became the backbone of our lessons.  After teaching thousands of young people it becomes very clear that without upholding virtues the environment to flourish cannot exist.  Its not about strict rules, its about encouraging and praising virtuous acts when you see them.  This could be recognising a child's patience and self discipline as they battle with cutting out a pattern from cardboard or it could be generosity as a child shares their colouring pencils.

Magic Monitors

This tip will save your creative life! Becoming comfortable with assigning monitors is like duplicating yourself around the room.  Not only does it eliminate any stress of setting up and packing away but it also empowers the children.

At Jarratts we take monitors to a new level by giving them funky names which the children love.  Suddenly a job that needs to be done becomes another chance to have fun.
